Additional childcare allowance after 12 July

The Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy has informed about the extension of the allowance for parents caring for children of up to 8 years of age in connection with the closure of nurseries, schools and kindergartens due to COVID-19. The allowance will be granted till 26 July 2020.

This allowance is granted both if the care facility is closed due to the coronavirus pandemic and if, despite opening the facility, a parent decides not to send his/her child to it.

Additional childcare allowance is provided to the insured parents of children:

  • up to 8 years old
  • up to the age of 16 if a child possesses a disability certificate,
  • up to the age of 18 if a child has a severe or moderate degree of disability and a certificate confirming the need of special education.

The additional childcare allowance amounts to 80% of the parent’s remuneration.
