PIP inspections are back

Starting from 22 June 2020, employer inspections carried out by the National Labour Inspectorate (PIP) have been unfrozen. The inspectors will verify issues such as irregularities in the remunerations` payments made during the pandemic.

Recently, the PIP has received more than 6,000 complaints, mainly related to problems with remunerations – their underestimation or late payment. Employees also complain about the employers’ use of illegal forms of termination of contracts.

The inspectors of the National Labour Inspectorate will appear in the controlled companies in person or will request access to the company’s data. The inspections will be carried out in accordance with the health and safety rules applied in a given enterprise.

Since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, PIP inspectors have only been present in companies in the most serious cases, e.g. collective accidents at work or threats to employees’ health and life.

What companies can be controlled by PIP?

The National Labour Inspectorate has the right to carry out an inspection at any employer and at any non-employer entities, if natural persons work for them. Inspections may also cover sole proprietorships. A company cannot refuse to undergo a PIP inspection.
