Quarantine – there is no obligation to provide a certificate from the sanitary station

Employees who claim sickness or care allowance due to quarantine or isolation are no longer required to provide their employers with a certificate from a sanitary and epidemiological station. The data will automatically go to the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) and will be made available to the contributions payers.

Sickness benefits may be claimed by persons who are under quarantine or isolation imposed by the State Sanitary Inspectorate and who are entitled to sickness benefits under:

  • employment contract
  • contract of mandate
  • business operations

Data from the e-Health Centre system

The data on quarantine or isolation will be downloaded by ZUS directly from the IT system of the e-Health Centre (EWP system – Register of Entry to Poland). The data will be transferred to employers and entrepreneurs via the ZUS Electronic Services Platform (PUE). On this basis, contribution payers will be able to pay sickness benefits and care allowance to their employees. This will allow to shorten the time of obtaining benefits by the entitled persons.

Information from the IT system of the e-Health Centre concerning quarantine or isolation will also be available to the insured on their profile at PUE ZUS.

Until now, in order to be entitled to such benefits, it was necessary to submit a decision of the State Sanitary Inspectorate to ZUS or to an employer together with the application for the benefit.

Employees under quarantine or isolation should immediately inform their employers by phone or e-mail.
